2026年度第9回即興型英語ディベート
On Wednesday October 14th, we had the ninth debate meeting of this year. The two-debate pattern continued, so the students practiced a lot and received plenty of feedback from the online judges.
The topics were It is better for students to work after graduation of high school rather than to go to university (生徒にとって、高校卒業後に大学に行くよりも働いた方が良い。) and Japan should abolish the mandatory retirement age (日本は、定年制を廃止すべきである。), so both debates linked to topics relevant to Japanese society and many develop countries around the world - the problems of job availability for graduates and student debt, and the issue of pension systems struggling to support aging populations.
The debates went very well and the PDA staff praised all students efforts. During today's debates, our school staff were focused on watching the eight students who are hoping to join our national contest team, which must consist of three members. We will watch those students several more times, but for now, all we can say is that they are very good, so choosing only three will be very difficult!
