海外留学レポート
【アメリカ】留学レポート⑦
6 months have passed since I came here.
We had a Banquet to celebrate all the achievements we achieved this year in Civil air patrol. We
spend whole day to make paper airplanes for decorations for it in the past day of it.
And we prepared from morning on the day of the event, too. As a result, I'm glad I had a good
meal and a good time with my friends.
I got an award which shows"Global Ambassador" in the banquet. I'm glad with a that.
The biggest event that happened in this one month is Christmas. Before the winter break,
school was filled with Christmas songs. We bought a big Christmas tree and put it in the living
room. We got many gifts from Santa. We put things that we want to get on the Amazon wish list and shared them with my host parents. We can receive Christmas gifts which are on the list. I think it's an innovative method. I got a kindle(device to read e-books), shoes, oil painting set, smartphone vr headset, hot eye mask, keyboard, and cookie.
On Christmas Eve, I cooked dinner for may host family and their grandparents, which means
there were 8 people including me, so it was a little tough to cook dinner for all of them, but I did my best. I cooked Yakisoba, Kara-age, Okonomiyaki, rice and salad.
The dishes were not perfect but It was hard work and I felt a sense of accomplishment..
Kindle is an amazing device to read books. I especially like the function where we can search
the meaning of the words in the dictionary or translate by one tap.
Recently,I paint our house on a canvas by using the oil painting set in my free time.
On the night of December 31, we spent all our time on the couch in the living room and watched new year TV shows. It was interesting that the USA has a time difference in different places, so the time New year came on the TV show was different in different places. When New Year came to New York, it was still 9 pm here.
I made Kagamimochi using mochi which I made and California orange. I decorated it in the
living room.
I went to a Ramen restaurant in a shopping mall and ate Ramen. I hadn't eaten it in six months. It was so delicious.
During winter break I went to museum of flight with my host family, which has many airplanes.
It was interesting that there were Japanese fighter airplanes in the WWII corner.
Here, the attack on Pearl Harbor seems to have left a lasting impression on many people as an
incident that was unbelievable.
A lodging training event of Civil air patrol that I was looking forward was cancelled due to the
snow, so I was a little disappointed but I'm looking forward to next opportunity.
