海外留学レポート
【アメリカ】留学レポート⑧
7 months have passed since I came here.
I participated the FBLA winter regional conference.
I competed in Marketing and Data Analysis. I did well in my presentation of Data Analysis. I got
2nd place in it. I was so glad about that because I spent a lot of time making presentation slides
and practicing for it. But I noticed I have to make more eye contact with the judges from the
judges ' comments. I thought I succeeded in answering the questions from the judge but it looks
like she didn't understand my answer well by looking at the judges' rate sheet.
I didn't do well in Marketing. The content of the marketing competition was to speak for 7
minutes as if I was the marketing manager of a company after 20 minutes preparing. There
were not so much time to prepare, so it made harder.
But there were not so many competitors, so I got 6th place.
Over all , there is a one thing I regret. I had to attend that in business casual attire, and I wore a
suit, but I didn't wear a tie. the fact that I didn't wear a tie lowered my both competitions' score.
We went to Navy battle ship tour with my host family.
The battle ship was used for WWII and it was interesting that it remained as it was back then.
I went to a shopping mall with my friends. There was Round1 in it, we tried Karaoke.
The system was older and more complex than Japanese one, but we could sing some songs. I
sang some Japanese songs. My friend's I sitter was also there, she loves Japan and sang
Japanese songs.
I had 3-day over night training event in Civil Air Patrol. There were several courses that we can
learn. I chose electricity and electronics. We used electric kit to learn them. It was fun. The
lifestyle in there was similar to military. We wake up at 6 am by the sound of a bugle call. We
had national flag-raise ceremony after wake up and flag lowering ceremony before dinner. All
meal was made by other cadets who chose the meal class. After the dinner of the second day,
we were lined up in front of our beds and had our beds and lockers inspected. Also, I flew in and
piloted a Cessna. Of course, Takeoff and Landing are difficult and dangerous, so the
professional pilot who sat next to me did that. I was nervous in the beginning, so I only could
move the control yoke and the pedal a little bit. But as time go by, I had been getting used to it,
and became being able to control it more precisely. I got so many valuable experience during
the 3 days.
This event happens once a month, so I wanna try again.
The pictures below are the photo which I took on the way back from the event and the photo of
Cessna which I flew in(well, the photo is not the thing which I took. I couldn't take the photo of
the Cessna, so I picked up it from the internet)
In FCCLA club, we went to child day care center to entertain children as we dressed up as
princes and princesses. We played with children, gave them stickers, and read books. Many of
them were friendly and I was glad that they understand my English.
There is a "Talent show" in my high school coming in March. Students who passed the audition
for it will dance, sing, play instruments, magic, and so on. I practiced ソーラン節 and tried the
audition for it.
The result of it will be noticed this week.
Also, I joined drama club and I tried the audtion for musical show coming in April.
The name is "Joseph and the amazing technicolor dramacoat."
I tried brother role for the audition. The result will be noticed this week, too.
