【アメリカ】留学レポート⑨

8 months have passed since I came here. We had my birthday party last month. My host family bought me a birthday cake which was made in the shape of Sushi. The taste was delicious. My host brothers sang a happy birthday song for me.

We had FCCLA state competition through March 5-8. We stayed at a hotel in Spokane. We headed there by our school van after finishing all classes that day. We didn't do much the first day because it was 9 o'clock(pm) when we arrived there. Second day, My partner, Gabbie and I completed Entrepreneurship. We have been working on
making slides and practicing for it for these 2 months. My pronunciation is still sometimes hard to understand for native speakers, but I tried to speak as loud and with confidence. I could perform without being upset and talking with eye contact with the judges, so I had confidence that I did my best. After that, we(me and other fccla members) went to buy gifts for Gabbie because it was her birthday. And then We went to Sushi.com(Japanese food restaurant) to eat dinner. We gave Gabbie her birthday gifts and sang happy birthday there. I ate Tekkadon(鉄火丼) and salmon sushi. Both of them were expensive compared to Japanese ones but the taste
was so delicious. My friends and I talked a lot about Japanese food there. He ate Takoyaki with relish. On the 3rd day, we attended some fccla sessions and walked around downtown Spokane. Dinner was a banquet with all fccla members. After that we did an award ceremony and I got 2nd place and gold medal(medal depends on how many points we get) in Entrepreneurship. Because we got 2nd place in the state competition, we have permission to
compete in the national competition, but it will happen after I come back to Japan so I can't go either way, sadly. We danced after the ceremony. It was such a fun moment to dance with my friends. After all, this FCCLA trip was awesome. I made new friends who go to other high schools in Washington. Spokane is in the east part of Washington state which is 5 hours away from our high school. I really like that place. There are not so many places here where we can walk around and shop or eat in a restaurant because cities like Seattle are insecure, and rural areas like near my house are too far to walk to shopping. But Spokane was a safe and quiet place, downtown has so many shops.]

As a result of the audition, I am part of the ensemble in the musical in the drama club and we have been practicing for it. During the civil air patrol activity , we went on a field trip to a military facility. We carried parachute backpacks, saw actual vehicles in use, and toured the gym. I took the picture below, and we were given a bulletproof vest to wear.

The new trimester has started today(we don't have vacations between and among trimesters). I got straight A's in the second trimester and I'm glad about it.
