Junior High School Recitation Contest

This year's junior high school recitation contest was a big success. This is my fourth year at Hibarigaoka and I can say, in all honesty, that the general level of our students' recitations is improving. I was particularly impressed with the pronunciation, delivery and energy displayed by our first year junior high school students. Some used props and others wore costumes.

This year, the first year students recited a version of Aesop's "The North Wind and the Sun."
Second year students recited the lyrics to the 1980's charity song hit,"We Are the World."
Finally, third year students presented an introduction to Martin Luther King, Jr. along with an excerpt from his famous"I Have A Dream"speech.

All of the reciters did a good job of showing that they understood what they were saying and, most importantly, that they were keen on wanting to interpret that meaning to the audience. I hope that students at Hibarigaoka Gakuen with continue to make efforts to improve their English recitation skills.
