オーストラリア語学研修に参加した生徒4名の感想を紹介します。

①M.Oさん

私はホームステイは今回が初めてでした。最初の頃は、ホストファミリーが何を言っているのかさっぱりわかりませんでしたが、会話を重ねるにつれて、徐々に聞き取れるようになりました。ホームステイ先では、自分のことを全部自分ですることで、親のありがたみも知りました。オーストラリアは水が貴重なため、シャワーは短時間で入らなければなりませんでした。日本でどれだけ水を無駄遣いしているか気づかされました。現地の学校は、雲雀丘学園高校と違うところがいくつもあって、敷地もとても広かったです。また、ベノワステートハイスクールでは、色々な国から来ている生徒がいて、日本人もいました。みんな仲がよくて楽しそうでした。校外学習では、オーストラリアの文化の知識を深めたり、英語で話をきくことで、リスニングの力も伸ばすことができたと思います。正直、食べ物は日本の方が美味しいけれど、それ以外はなにもかもオーストラリアの方が良いと感じました。日本に帰らずそのままずっといたいと思えるほど、一生忘れないとてもいい経験になりました。

It was the first time for me to experience homestay. At first, I couldn’t understand what my host family said. After a little time, I got used to listen their English. I needed to do many things like cleaning by myself. I thanked my parents for doing them every day. I had to take a shower quickly because water is precious in Australia. I found that I wasted much water in Japan. There were a lot of differences between our school and the school I studied in Australia. It was so huge. There were many people from various countries. Also, there were some Japanese students. They looked happy and had good friends there. In off-campus activities, we could learn Australian cultures. Actually, I thought in Australia everything is better than Japan except food. I had a very good time and wanted to stay there longer. I’ll never forget this experience.

私たちはこのオーストラリア研修でさまざまな体験をしました。その中で私の心に一番残ったのはホームステイです。私は今回が初めてのホームステイだったので、ホストファミリーに会うまで、うまくコミュニケーションをとることが出来るか少し不安でした。実際、現地の人が英語を話すスピードは速く、そのままのスピードで聞き取ることは難しかったです。しかし、ゆっくり話してもらったり、辞書を使ったりして、なんとか会話することが出来ました。特にお互いの国、家族、趣味について話しました。また、ホストファミリーにはビーチや市場などに連れて行ってもらいました。そこでの会話やホストブラザーと遊んだことは私の大切な思い出です。この二週間は本当に一瞬でした。オーストラリアに住む人の生活を実際に体験し、多くのことを学びました。また、たくさんの一生の思い出を作ることが出来ました。今回、このオーストラリア研修に参加して本当に良かったと思っています。来年もまたぜひ行きたいです。そして、今回の研修で学んだことを今後しっかりといかして勉強を頑張ります。

We had a lot of experiences. Staying with Australian family was a wonderful experience for me. Talking in English was difficult for me. But I could enjoy talking with my host family. We talked about Japan, my family and hobbies. I showed them how to make a paper crane. It was difficult for my host mother. My host family took me to many places. We walked along the beach many times. There was a scenic spot. We could make many good memories. I want to go to Australia again. I should study English harder. So, I’ll do my best to study English.

ベノアステイトハイスクールでは、バディー達と一緒に学んだり、放課後に遊んだりすることができ、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。私のバディーは中学一年生なのに、私がこの前習ったことを学んでいてびっくりしました。また、進んで手を挙げて発言したり、パソコンを使って授業を受けている事に驚きました。また、授業内容も日本より面白かったです。オーストラリアの街中の景観は、日本と比べて緑が多く電信柱が木でできており、子供が遊べる公園が多く、ゴミ箱がいたるところにあり、自動販売機やコンビニが全然なかったです。環境に対しての意識が高いなと改めて思いました。ホームステイは初めてで、とても楽しみにしていました。私のホームステイファミリーはとても気さくで、親切な方でした。初めは会話があまり成立せず少し落ち込みましたが、沢山話すことで、リスニング力が上がり、大体のことは聞き取れるようになりました。別れる際、ホストシスターがカードを作ってくれてびっくりしたし、本当に帰りたくないと思いました。スピーキングはまだまだですが、頑張ってまたオーストラリアに行きたいと思います。

I enjoyed spending time with my baddy. For example, learning and playing after school. My baddy is in grade 7th, but she was learning what I learned these days. I was surprised that the students gave their opinions and used their own PC in the class. I felt the classes were more interesting than in Japan. In Australia, there are many parks in which the children can play. There are also many trees and many trash boxes. I thought Australia is a green-conscious country. It was my first experience to do homestay, so l was very looking forward to meeting my host family. They were kind. I made many mistakes, but they encouraged me. So gradually my listening skills improved and I was able to understand almost everything in the end. I can’t speak English fluently yet but l’ll do my best. I want to go to Australia again.

僕は、オーストラリアに行く前、ホームステイや言葉について不安がありました。しかし実際には、日本と異なる環境での生活を楽しむことができました。僕はオーストラリアでたくさんの人と出会い、新しい関係を築くことができました。現地の人との交流を通して、オーストラリアの文化や慣習へも関わることができました。オーストラリアで出会った人々は、絆などたくさんのことを教えてくれましたが、日本と異なる文化・慣習に刺激をもらいました。このような経験を経て、僕は自分の新たな一面にも気づくことができました。何よりも、外国の人と英語で話すのが楽しくなりました。オーストラリアから離れるのはとても悲しかったです。しかし、日本に帰ってきてからも、現地で学んだ英語力や価値観を忘れないように、活用していくことはできると思います。

I was worried about homestay and English before I went to Australia, but I really enjoyed the new environment and the new lifestyle there. I could make new relationships with the people I met in Australia. Also, I could experience Australian culture and habits. Of course, the people taught me a lot of things, such as bonds. They inspired me a lot. Through these experiences, I could find new things about myself. It was a lot of fun to talk with people in English! I was so sad to say good bye to Australia. However, even after I went back to Japan, I think I can make use of English skills and the values I got during my stay in order not to forget them.
